Background:
To be honest, I have had this idea for some time, but never acted on it. So finally, I decided to get off my butt and do it. In case you haven't heard anything about this yet, here's the deal. I am a past client of Bushido Tattoo in Calgary, Alberta, and along with many of you, am a big fan of the work that comes out of the studio. I thought I would use my photography as an opportunity to showcase the art from Bushido in a hardcover photo book. This book will be presented as a gift to the studio, and hopefully, they won't throw it in the trash as soon as they get it :) I have been getting in touch with previous clients of Bushido to see what kind of interest I could get in a project like this, and the response has been great.
How I'm gonna do it:
Each individual will have the opportunity to take part in a one hour professional portrait session. Together, we will come up with a concept for the shoot, and get some sweet images of you and your ink using professional lighting and technique. Whether you have a small piece on your foot, or a large chest piece, back piece, or sleeve, no amount of ink is too little or too much for this project. Selected images will be professionally retouched and put in the photo book, and each page will feature a different subject/model. Each session will be setup to showcase your ink in the most artistic and appropriate ways possible. It's gonna be sweet.
Concepts:
No concept will be overlooked. Generally speaking, the sessions will take place in a studio setting, or, on location with professional lighting and setup as appropriate to the situation. Concepts can include anything from headshots, ¾ or full length portrait work, glamour and fashion styles, pinup, boudoir, implied nude, etc. Props and extras are absolutely welcome, and together we will decide what would be appropriate for the shoot.
Schedule:
Shooting schedules will be broken up into two categories: on location shoots, and studio sessions. Location shoots will be scheduled and dealt with on a shoot by shoot basis. Studio sessions will all take place at the same location, which is TBA. Shoots can be scheduled with multiple subjects/models at a time so tell your friends!
What's in it for you:
The photo session itself will be provided to you at no charge. As a thank you, each model will be set up with their own website to showcase the images from the shoot - an awesome way to share your photos with family and friends. If you would like to purchase a disk of high resolution images from your shoot, they will be available to you for $250. Prints will also be available in various sizes if you do not wish to purchase digital files.
Here's what you should do right now...
Click on the "Contact" tab...
Fill out the form with a tentative date for your photo shoot. We'll hammer out a definite date and time from there.
In the comments section, share your ideas for your shoot. Let me know if you'd rather do an on-location shoot, or if you'd rather come into a studio setting. From there we'll be in contact to figure out the rest of the details.
Should be fun! Looking forward to hearing from you!
